Samm, "The Penstress"

Singer/ Songwriter/Vocal Arranger/ Co-Producer

Samantha Hope Evans, also known as Samm, was born and raised in Oakland, California on March 26, 1984. By the age of five, Samm never imagined that music would be her life’s passion, but little did she know, everything she was doing brought her closer to it. She participated in every school and church musical, singing solos and duets, growing closer to on of her best friends, the microphone! Samm ignored all of these connections because all she knew was music and that she loved to sing! It wasn’t until Samm reached middle school, in which she began writing poetry. At such a young age, Samm had a lot to say. Her concepts were deep and meaningful, which lit a fire to her songwriting abilities.

By the age of 15, Samm linked up with producer and friend Shonuf. She began turning her poetry into songs. Samm shortly became apart of a rap group by the name of “ShoCity”, which featured her as their singing princess. One of Samm’s many songs; “Sad Song” was featured on the “ShoCity Presents” album. The group began to get noticed performing around town, where Samm’s voice grabbed the attention of many different artists. She started doing guest apperances on albums and mixtapes, singing and writing hooks for local rappers such as “The Team” and “Ya Boy”. As time progressed, ShoCity got smaller, but she kept working. The group eventually linked up with local recording label, “Stack-A-Dolla Records”, which included rapper “Jon Nash”, a girl group, “MAH”, and “ShoCity”. ShoCity was going strong, but like every other group, they had their downfalls, and the group began to slip.

Samm kept writing, singing and collaborating with everyone. Still working with the label, Samm linked up with producer & artist, “Erk Tha Jerk”. Erk produced her first hit single, “Come On” ft. Kaz Kyzah of The Team. This single had her  name buzzing through the streets and at radio stations in the Bay Area. Samm continued writing hooks for Erk Tha Jerk, Big Rich, Kafani, Clyde Carson, and many more different artists, but she wanted to take her writing to a different level. Samm began working with a producer by the name of “Fusion”, from Philadelphia. She got an opportunity to work on demo projects for recording artists: “Musiq Soulchild”, “Mya”, “Nicole of the Pussycat Dolls” and many others. She was now embracing all of her gifts and learning how to perfect them. Samm is currently singing, writing, and co-producing many projects! Her music is definitely going to be an inspiration for people around the world! Look for her name in the headlines!
